First reported 1788 Hottingerkaart (H.J. Versfelt, De Hottinger-atlas van Noord- en Oost-Nederland. 1773-1794)
A large A-list hunebed climbing up a rise overlooking the fields around the village of Noord-Sleen, D50 offers an impressive glimpse of the structure of an intact hunebed. In folk legend, the spirit of the giant who built this monument is said to inhabit the hunebed D49 in Schoonoord, suggesting prehistoric connections.
